Ash trays are made from new oak and protected with 2-3 applications of satin clear coat. Do not worry! This finish is very durable and the ashes from the cigar will not burn or cause the ash tray to catch fire. Even if dabbing out the cigar, which is not typical, might only cause very minor marking that can be wiped away with a rag.
